I’ve mentioned before that Twitter is an incredible resource of information. Particularly for someone like me who is interested in businesses and investing.
I have a Google Sheet with links to all the interesting things that I find on the internet. It’s a useful resource that I often find myself referring back to.
Recently, I came across some Twitter accounts of people who buy/invest in RV Parks. You may wonder why I would be interested in this. I don’t work in the industry and I don’t live in the US (this is where these individuals operate). The answer is quite simple – I find these types of businesses fascinating.

I would say that owning an RV Park is probably not something most people would describe as conventional. For me, this is what makes it so interesting.
There are so many different ways that people make a living and generate wealth. Following the conventional path of working in a company and building a career is just one of these options.
I think that is part of the reason why I enjoy learning about these different industries. It opens your mind to what else is available. It encourages you to think bigger and it forces you to consider other options.
It’s also a great way to learn. So far I’ve learned about property underwriting, cap rates, property refinancing, tax, property management, and depreciation.
I’m a firm believer that skills are transferable. Topics you learn in one industry can be carried over to other industries.
In my field of accounting and finance, almost all of the core principles remain the same. It’s only the last 10%-15% that are industry-specific.
