Here is a quick summary of me.
Originally from South Africa. Currently living in Amsterdam with my wife and young daughter.
I’m a qualified Chartered Accountant.
My day job involves all aspects of finance and accounting at an aircraft lessor. I previously worked at KPMG, Dimension Data (now NTT) and Prodigy Finance.
When I’m not working or spending time with my family you’ll most likely find me running. I enjoy all types of running but I have a passion for ultra-distance races. I’ve completed the Two Oceans Ultra Marathon (56km) five times and run one Comrades Marathon (89km). I’ve lost count of the number of marathons I’ve done over the years. I mainly run on the road but the beautiful mountain trails in Europe are too good to miss.
I’m currently training for a sub 2:45 2:40 marathon.
Other areas of interest include anything business, entrepreneurship, technology and investing related.
I spend way too much time on Twitter and listen to a lot of podcasts.
Each year I try to learn a new skill. Something unrelated but complementary to my formal accounting training. In 2020, I focused on financial modelling. In 2021, I learned about SEO and writing.
